EMC and VMware recently announced the VCE VxRail, an appliance family focused on hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI). They claim that it is the "only fully integrated, preconfigured, and tested VMware HCI appliance in the market." It integrates off-the-shelf versions of VMware software, and configures vCenter Server, ESXi host, and Virtual SAN for all nodes. The VxRail is configured-to-order, and data center admins can choose from a variety of options, including all-flash or hybrid nodes.
WatchGuard's Firebox T10, T30 and T50 appliances are designed to protect the small office/branch office. They say that their box's application-layer content inspection recognizes and blocks threats that stateful packet firewalls cannot detect. The appliance includes the following capabilities:
– APT Blocker
– Application Control
– Intrusion Prevention Service (IPS )
– WebBlocker
– Gateway AntiVirus (GAV)
– spamBlocker
– Reputation Enabled Defense
– Data Loss Prevention (DLP)

Horizon is VMware's tool for delivering virtual or hosted desktops and applications through a single platform. VMware just announced the latest version of its core Horizon product in Horizon 7, and Horizon Air with hybrid capabilities. There are three Horizon products for three different use cases. Horizon 7 offers desktop and app delivery from the private cloud, Horizon Air offers desktop and app delivery from the public cloud, and Horizon Flex handles offline containerized desktops and apps.
Verse is IBM's new advanced email offering. Verse is user-focused, it changes the process of last-in-first-out email management to one based on importance to the user. Big Blue says that Verse uses cognitive computing to help automate email interactions, and that future versions should be able to answer questions automatically that come in via email, instant messaging, or social networks.

The HR Kiosk can help with job applicants and can also be deployed in remote locations where it is cost prohibitive to staff HR personnel full-time.
NCR recently issued a security advisory warning about ATMs that have network communications cables in a publicly accessible location. There have been cases where scammers have attached a device to the cable in attempt to capture communications. The fraudsters also attach a device to the ATM in order to capture PINs, e.g., a keyboard overlay was used in an attack on an NCR ATM, while a concealed camera was used on a Diebold ATM.

Google is partnering with Movidius, a computer vision company, to develop software that will allow smartphones to recognize the images users capture via their phone`s camera. With built-in image recognition and "deep learning" algorithms, smartphones could identify objects in real time for a variety of applications. For example, they could be used in applications to rapidly identify people to authorize payments or mobile banking transactions.
According to a Retale survey of 1,000 consumers, 83 percent of consumers think mobile payments are convenient, compared to 76 percent in 2014. However, 59 percent of respondents are worried about data breaches and privacy, and 55 percent are worried about possible theft or loss of the mobile device. Half of the respondents said they would most likely use PayPal for in-store mobile payments, followed by their primary FI's mobile payment app, Apple Pay, Android Pay, and the retailer's app.

Minerva Labs has come out with what they are calling a "Low Footprint Endpoint Prevention Platform" that focuses on preventing targeted attacks. Minerva Armor is an anti-malware solution for endpoints. The package simulates the existence of security products such as Sandbox and forensics tools such as Debugger on every endpoint in an organization in an effort to stop malware from executing.
Arctic Wolf Networks offers a security service - AWN Cyber-SOC - composed of its home-grown SIEM in the cloud backed by security engineers who monitor the anomalies identified by their platform. Each customer is assigned to a particular engineer, so that their technician will develop an understanding over time of their unique environment. The company charges $3 to $7 per employee per month for the service.
NopSec unveiled Unified VRM 4.0 to help organizations take a more proactive approach to vulnerability management and remediation. The latest enhancements include:
· Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engine Dashboard: Improved dashboard dedicated to delivering richer data visualizations, quantifiable data and quick links to drill-down into other reports for a correlated view of the organization`s vulnerability posture
· Remediation To-Do List: New prioritization tool helps users see the top threats and gives a list of customized, immediate remediation steps to drive action for high-priority issues
· Critical-Fix Filter: New feature highlights aging vulnerabilities with the highest risk factor
· Detailed Reporting: Updated reporting functionality allows users to generate dynamic reports and easily create custom presentations

Regions has rolled out an online tool that helps determine which checking accounts are best for consumers. The interactive tool asks them questions about what features they need, how much they receive in direct deposits each month, how many checks they write in a month, etc. Consumers can then choose to open their preferred account immediately online or schedule an appointment in a nearby branch.

SD-WAN is the idea of bringing software defined networking capabilities to branch office sites and SD-WANs typically support multiple types of connections, from broadband to MPLS to LTE. Verizon has partnered with Vipetla to offer a hosted SD-WAN where the intelligence and automation of the SD-WAN services are hosted in Verizon`s data center. In action, branches get the benefit of using the SD-WAN without having to host the infrastructure needed to run it.
Akamai has introduced a new offering called the Akamai Bot Manager. The platform educates organizations about what types of bot traffic are frequenting their site, and offers remediation to help them make decisions and take action. Two of the goals of the service are to help improve the user experience by reducing the impact of bots on the web infrastructure, and combat fraudulent activity by validating client behavior against legitimate workflow.

VoicePIN has developed technology that converts a person`s voice into an algorithm and then stores the data as an encrypted set of data. This in turn allows a person to log onto a system securely without having to use a password or pin code. Using unique voice characteristics, VoicePIN allows callers to access personal data sans usernames and passwords, and it helps to reduce the risk of data hijacking and identity theft. The Krakow, Poland-based company says that their solution is designed for FIs and call centers.
