Chip Shield released their consumer focused personal chip card reader which fits in the palm of your hand and connects to desktop computers over USB and mobile devices over the audio connector. The device works with any credit or debit chip card, and with the Chip Shield Web Assistant, it can provide enhanced security for any online shopping or banking site without any changes to those sites. Chip Shield uses EMV encryption technology to generate unique private key signatures that will unlock online accounts and personal data only when the card is inserted into the Reader. The Assistant can also manage online account passwords and provide extended authentication to protect online banking sites.
The BrightSign HD222 Networked Interactive digital signage system supports 1080p or 4K HDMI displays as well as nearly any HID-compatible touch interface. Templates provide options to display an interactive Web page while a ticker window can scroll Twitter or RSS feeds as a banner across the screen. It also supports tiled windows to display clocks, video feeds, PowerPoint shows, etc.

Containers encapsulate an application in a container within its own operating environment. The combination of containerization coupled with input/output controls on sophisticated network adaptors like those from Solarflare allows for more granular forms of security than firewalls. Many analysts are seeing increased use of containers among financial firms for managing issues like performance and control on private cloud infrastructures, in addition to the security benefits that they provide.
Paragon Protect & Restore is a software solution for backing up virtual and physical IT infrastructures - it supports VMware, vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, physical servers or a combination thereof. It also supports remote recovery, on-site hardware independent restore (bare-metal restore) and application-level backup of MS Exchange databases. The basic editions of Paragon Protect & Restore are complimentary, while additions of advanced features, additional licenses, and premium support are available starting from $399/CPU.

NCR has partnered with Huntington Technology Finance to provide lease financing for NCR ATMs, including "ATM-as-a-Service" options, for banks. A single monthly payment will cover: NCR equipment, deployment, service, administration and software. Finally, the companies say that their solution will eliminate unnecessary end-of-life costs, including product disposal.
Citi is pilot testing Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacon technology that allows customers to unlock doors to ATM lobbies after hours using their iPhones or Apple watches. The pilot is being conducted in select New York City branches, using tech from mobile engagement provider Gimbal. The enhanced ATMs are able to conduct transactions typically reserved for tellers, in addition they will be testing biometric, cardless ATMs. User who opt in can also receive location-based customized messaging direct to their mobiles, promoting special offers and events.

According to an Adobe study, entitled “State of Banking,” the U.S. lags other developed nations, including Australia, the U.K. and Canada in smartphone access to mobile banking. The Adobe survey highlighted that 53 percent of millennials do more than half of their banking online; and that Gen Xers manage 62 percent of their banking mostly online. More surprisingly, 39 percent of millennials and 36 percent of Gen Xers expressed concern about the quality of mobile banking apps.
Personetics announced the launch of Personetics Anywhere chatbot which provides a way for banks to offer customers personalized assistance and guidance using messaging platforms such as Facebook Messenger. In action, customers can use Facebook Messenger and other messaging apps to receive instant and contextual responses to questions related to their accounts, or get immediate assistance executing financial transactions such as sending a payment. Personetics Anywhere can also analyze customer spending patterns and provide advance warning if an account may become overdrawn, suggest ways to increase savings, and deliver other insights related to the customer's most current financial activities.

Morphisec recently announced the general availability of its Endpoint Threat Prevention solution. The company claims that their solution stops 99 percent of advanced attacks with less than 1 percent false positives and practically zero performance degradation. They say that Morphisec Endpoint solution prevents and traps advanced attacks, vulnerability exploits, and zero-days by making sure attackers never find their targets.
A 2015 ZK Research study found that east-west traffic (laterally within the organization) was growing at about 5x the rate of north-south traffic (in and out of the organization). The growth of east-west traffic is due to the rise of virtual servers, containers and private clouds. ThreatTrack is one company that is addressing this issue with their ThreatSecure Network which helps IT Departments identify and respond to multi-stage cyberattacks moving laterally across their network. They note that while most organizations have invested heavily in next-generation perimeter defenses to combat advanced malware, many are still blind to the network security threats lurking behind their firewall, going unnoticed within their networks. ThreatSecure Network helps by providing visibility into malware behavior, including its lateral movement, replication and exploration of your network – all indicators of a data breach in progress.

Financial tech startup Shastic has released the first Shastic Index, a quarterly ranking that scores financial institutions on innovation. The Shastic Index reveals where a financial institution ranks in user satisfaction and performance across digital channels such as mobile banking and social media compared to peers in the industry. The index analyzes end user data, taking into account iTunes user ratings and Facebook metrics. It then consolidates this data into a score that financial institutions can use to determine their performance within their peer group.

The PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) was formed in December 2004 and protects credit card holders during the storage, processing and transmission of their personal information. Communications recording technology plays an integral role for call centers in meeting the PCI DSS standard, because recorded caller interactions can intentionally or unintentionally store personal data. At a minimum, communications recording solutions must encrypted the storage of audio data, and apply secure transmission mechanisms (HTTPS, SFTP, SSL, etc).
