Toshiba Announces 10TB Surveillance Hard Drive
Toshiba America Electronic Components announced the MD06ACA-V, the latest addition to its SV Series line-up of 3.5-inch hard drives for surveillance applications. The new models are available in capacities up to 10TB with a higher transfer rate compared to previous MD04ABA-V models, helping to enable support for up to 64 camera streams. Higher capacity and transfer rates enable support for higher resolution camera streams to meet changing compliance mandates for surveillance data.
Dell EMC Amps up Server Performance to Give HCI a Boost
Dell EMC announced that its hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) portfolio was getting a performance boost thanks to new Dell EMC PowerEdge 14th generation servers. The PowerEdge server platform is designed and optimized for HCI, and offers customers more powerful and predictable performance, according to Dell EMC. It also offers greater configurability to host a wide range of mission-critical software applications on Dell EMC VxRail and XC Series appliances.

Amazon Brings Its Digital Assistant to the Office with Alexa for Business
Amazon's digital assistant Alexa is formally coming to the office through a new effort dubbed Alexa for Business. Alexa is the cloud-based voice service that powers Amazon's line of Echo speakers, and can be integrated into other third-party products through the Alexa Voice Service. Alexa can be used in the conference room to dim the lights or lower the blinds, find an open conference room, or order supplies. So far, it will integrate with products from Cisco, Polycom, and a few others.

Charter Says Its Hybrid Ethernet, Internet Access Approach Will Differentiate Its SD-WAN Service
Charter’s Spectrum Enterprise may have followed Comcast as two of the first cable MSOs to enter the burgeoning SD-WAN market, but the service provider wants to focus its attention on offering different options that allow customers to migrate existing legacy services to next-gen on their own timeline. This service will allow businesses to leverage Ethernet performance, DOCSIS-based broadband Internet connectivity and SD-WAN to create what the service provider calls Hybrid WANs by stitching together native Ethernet WANs and internet-based SD-WAN connections.
CenturyLink Survey Reveals Hosted VoIP Customers Want to See Efficiency, Usability Improvements
