Seagate Launches SkyHawk AI, the First HDD for AI-Enabled Surveillance

Seagate announced its SkyHawk AI hard disk drive, which it says is the first drive created specifically for artificial intelligence enabled video surveillance solutions. SkyHawk AI provides bandwidth and processing power to help manage always-on, data-intensive workloads, while simultaneously analyzing and recording footage from multiple HD cameras.

ATP Electronics Rolls out New DDR4-2666 Server Memory

ATP Electronics announced the launch of its new low-power DDR4 memory for Intel’s Xeon Scalable processor platform and 8th generation (Coffee Lake) Core series processors. ATP’s memory operates at DDR4-2666MHz and features kits up to 32GB for RDIMM (registered dual in-line memory). Unbuffered DDR4-2666MHz modules are also available in SODIMM and UDIMM (ECC and Non-ECC) kits up to 16GB. Operating at just 1.2V, this memory features the lowest power consumption in the market today, the company stated, making it ideal for use in high-performance computing applications such as networking storage systems, network attached storage (NAS) servers, and cloud servers.

New Features in Windows Server 1709: Container-Focused, Devops-Oriented

At the heart of the Windows Server 1709 release is a major update of the Server Core variant of Windows Server, with new versions of both Enterprise and Data Center editions. The new Windows Server favors a devops-based organization and enhances its support for containers and cloud deployments. But to get the benefits of the new release, you’re going to have to forego the Windows Server UI, shifting to managing your servers with the command line (especially via PowerShell) and with remote user interfaces like the familiar RSAT and the new browser-based Project Honolulu.

Dell Integrates Desktop, Mobile Management for UEM

Dell has integrated its cloud-based desktop management console with AirWatch's mobile platform to create a single console that allows admins to remotely manage end-user systems. Dell and VMware's AirWatch also introduced Windows 10 provisioning through the AirWatch mobile management service. Dell made the AirWatch integration announcement in conjunction with its efforts to expand its PC-as-a-Service offering (PCaaS). Dell's service combines hardware, software, lifecycle services and financing into one solution priced per seat per month.

FireEye has released GoCrack, an open source tool for managing password cracking tasks across multiple machines.
