Conversational Banking May Already Be Mainstream, Mastercard Says
Two out of three U.S. adults are already comfortable interacting with retailers, FIs, and other companies using natural language technology, according to a study released by Mastercard. The study found that 80% of participants are “aware” of voice-based NLP (natural language processing) services, compared to 43% for text-based services.
Biometric Identification Must Be Made Available for All Mastercard Users by April 2019
Mastercard announced that all consumers will be able to identify themselves with biometrics such as fingerprints or facial recognition, when they shop and pay with Mastercard by April next year. In practice it means that FIs issuing Mastercard-branded cards will have to be able to offer biometric authentication for remote transactions, alongside existing PIN and password verification. It will also apply to all contactless transactions made at terminals with a mobile device.
