HP Teams with Xerox on Printers, Device-as-a-Service
Two printer industry giants are teaming up, as HP and Xerox announced a partnership. As part of the new arrangement, Xerox said it will source certain HP A4 devices as well as entry-level HP A3 devices, and will provide those devices running on Xerox's ConnectKey software. The printers covered by the new arrangement will mainly be those using laser printing technology from HP's acquisition of Samsung's printer business in 2017.

HPE Slashes ProLiant Server Prices on Average by Nine Percent
“We are lowering our prices again to be even more competitive,” said HPE North America Channel Chief Terry Richardson. “This is the lowest pricing we have ever had on HPE ProLiant Gen10 servers – whether it is Intel or AMD.” At the same time, HPE is offering trade in rebates to customers that is lowering the price of enterprise class HPE ProLiant Gen10 servers to well under $1,000.

Diebold Nixdorf, one of the world's largest ATM vendors, is notifying customers about ways to secure older Opteva-branded ATMs against a remote code execution (RCE) vulnerability. The company says this service only runs on Opteva version 4.x software. Recent versions are not affected.

Mastercard Launches Open Banking Platform to Further API Standards
Mastercard has launched its latest initiative called Open Banking Solutions. The promise of Open Banking — still far off, but certainly in sight — is that individuals will have greater control over how and where their data is used, by whom and when. The new Mastercard offering is designed to support Open Banking efforts in four areas: connectivity, security and compliance, dispute resolution and consulting services.
This article says that Open Banking is a global effort that resets the relationships FIs have with FinTech firms, payment providers and financial service providers. Under Open Banking, many observers think that APIs will play a key role in aggregating and creating new services.

Cogent CEO Sounds the Death Knell for MPLS
Cogent Communications CEO Dave Schaeffer says the MPLS market for telco carriers is in the process of imploding due to SD-WAN's emergence, and because MPLS is "a very difficult technology to deploy, very expensive and very rigid." He goes on to state that "when a corporate user migrates a bit (Megabit) from an MPLS network to an over the top solution they see an equal or better performance and a 15x reduction in their cost per bit."
