Mastercard’s Approach to Passive Biometric Authentication
NuData, a Mastercard company, estimated that almost half of all login attempts in 2018 were high risk for being fraudulent, and nearly 1 in 5 of new accounts created in 2019 so far are fraudulent on average. Mastercard has developed a range of products that use passive biometrics to help verify good users. Passive biometrics is centered on probabilistically identifying if a legitimate person is physically present in the interaction. This can happen during account creations, login attempts, and transactions.
Credit Card Issuers Must Target Digital Payment Apps, Deloitte Reports
Nearly half of US consumers surveyed expect to use credit cards more than any other payment instrument in the next two years, Deloitte finds. This is primarily driven by the attractive rewards, discounts, and cash-backs that accompany credit card spending. Despite this, consumer loyalty toward credit card usage appears fragile, with two-thirds (approx. 66%) of consumers surveyed likely to switch alternative payment instruments if they receive similar, credit-card-type rewards in return.

Uplevel Systems is serving up an SD-WAN service that's designed for small and medium-sized organizations. While SD-WAN has traditionally been targeted at large to medium-sized enterprises, it's starting to trickle down to smaller businesses with remote offices. Uplevel Systems' gateway, wireless access point and remote management integrates firewall, SD-WAN, managed LAN and WiFi, and file storage with local and cloud backup for managed service providers (MSPs) serving customers with less than 100 employees per site. The entire platform is provided as a service.
How SD-WAN Is Evolving into Secure Access Service Edge
SASE, pronounced "sassy," stands for secure access service edge, and it's being positioned by Gartner as the next big thing in enterprise networking. The technology category converges the WAN edge and network security into a cloud-based, as-a-service delivery model. The technology is still in its infancy, with less than 1% adoption. There are a handful of existing SD-WAN providers, including Cato Networks, Juniper, Fortinet and Versa, that are expected to compete in the emerging SASE market.
