HP Introduces New Cloud-Based Printer Management Service
HP announced HP Managed Print Cloud Services, a cloud-based service that lets organizations hand off the management of their print-related technology to HP. The new Managed Print Cloud Services will offer "personalized services and intelligent, purpose-built solutions that help streamline and automate processes," HP promised in a release.

Microsoft Teams Gets New Features
Microsoft, which has seen the use of its Teams software rise amid the COVID-19 outbreak, has added new ways to manage Teams Rooms video conferencing devices. Admins can now set up, view and manage devices and peripherals such as cameras, displays, IP phones and microphones from a single screen, as well as monitor call quality and other meeting activity. Microsoft said the move should reduce some of the burden of administrating fleets of devices across an organization.
Attivo Networks Announces New Capabilities for Its EDN Solution
Attivo Networks has introduced new capabilities to its Endpoint Detection Net (EDN) solution that prevent attackers from fingerprinting an endpoint to identify security weaknesses and from conducting reconnaissance. The new EDN Deflect functionality provides alerts to unauthorized host and service scanning, which is critical because other security controls typically do not generate an alert for these types of activities.
92% of Survey Respondents Report 'Some Success' with Microservices
In a new survey from O'Reilly on how, why, and in which scenarios people are using microservices, researchers found that many organizations are adopting and experiencing success with it. The study touts the use of containers for microservices because it addresses one of the main complaints respondents had: The complexity of it all. Another pain point for respondents was around centrally-managed databases. The survey found that those who did not use a centrally-managed database with microservices often reported failure with it.

Contactless Transactions at Small Businesses Have More than Doubled Since March
The highly infectious coronavirus that causes Covid-19 has scared many consumers into not touching as many surfaces as possible when making payments, including POS terminals and cash. Merchants have responded by encouraging online and contactless payments. New York City-based CardFlight, a technology company serving more than 60,000 small businesses through its SwipeSimple service, says in its latest weekly report on payment trends since the pandemic began slamming the economy in March that contactless payment transactions initiated either through a credit or debit card or smart phone were up 107% in the week of June 29-July 5 from CardFlight’s baseline week of March 2-8.
6G Wireless? Samsung Is Already Outlining Its Plans
Samsung has started to publicize its direction for 6G, the next generation of wireless networks likely to supercede 5G sometime in the next decade. The company joins Nokia and a few other organizations that are exploring the upgrade. 6G features will include better spectral and energy efficiency and a requirement for trustworthiness that, “addresses the security and privacy issues arising from the widespread use of user data and AI technologies,” Samsung says.

TransUnion surveyed consumers in six countries and found that phishing was the preferred method of attack 27% of the time. Phishing leads as the most common type of fraud largely because it's simple compared to other methods. Identity fraud is a primary way fraudsters leverage stolen consumer data from phishing and other social engineering schemes.

Adobe, IBM Team up on Marketing Software for Financial Services
Adobe and IBM are teaming up to make marketing software easier to use for FIs that face strict controls on how consumer data must be handled. The plan is for Adobe’s software to run in IBM’s cloud system that has received regulatory approval for use by FIs, the companies said, which will lead to more banking functions becoming totally digital over time. IBM will also be able to connect the cloud-based system to a FI’s internal stores of accountholder data, which “gives them much more flexibility to pick and choose on the data that they might put into a marketing campaign,” according to an IBM spokeswoman.

FIs Given Regulatory Green Light to Safekeep Cryptocurrencies
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency said in a recent letter that providing custody and safekeeping services for cryptocurrencies, including holding "keys" needed to access cryptocurrency holdings, is a modern version of traditional banking activities and should be allowed. FIs can provide such business to accountholders with cryptocurrencies, so long as they ensure they are following relevant laws, including those pertaining to money laundering. The OCC said FIs considering this business should discuss the matter with regulators before launching it.
