LogMeIn has launched major updates to GoToConnect, its Unified Communications and Collaboration (UCC) software, including native integrations with Microsoft Teams; updates to its Cloud Contact Center-as-a-Service (CCaaS) systems; updates to its mobile offering; and bundling options that bring together other LogMeIn products like LastPass, GoToWebinar, and GoToAssist. The updated GoToConnect offers users a new mobile UI designed to make employees more productive by, for example, allowing them to receive and make work calls on a mobile device without using their personal number. It also offers features such as Find Me and Follow Me, Advance Call Flip, Shared Extension, and Voicemail Transcriptions.
Fortress Information Security (Fortress) announced a series of innovations to their risk and compliance management solutions. Some additions include: The Asset to Vendor Network which is a collaborative platform for sharing cybersecurity information; Automated Findings Lifecycle Management; Compliance Automation; File Integrity Assurance; and Enhanced Vendor Risk Assessment Features.
Even after the current pandemic fades, the author recommends that you should expect to see FIs continue to innovate and develop new forms of ATM architecture. He states that this is necessary for implementing new mobile cash technologies. He suggests that FIs should consider using a channel integration model in order to easily implement a full ATM-mobile integration and embrace contactless technologies and adopt new solutions.
Access Softek has released a survey outlining consumers’ interest in biometric authentication methods. More than 63% of respondents agree that having a modern, easy-to-use, mobile biometric feature for verification would improve their service and support experience. Moreover, the survey concluded that more than 48% of respondents would like to see a consistent, unified verification method across all digital channels, while 47% said they would have an increased appreciation of their FI if it had mobile biometric verification in the contact center.
PYMNTS’ research indicates that consumers are using digital and mobile banking tools for their safety and convenience, but issues still remain that leave consumers with less than satisfactory banking experiences. One of the main areas of frustration is with the frictions caused by mobile banking app authentication. PYMNTS' research shows that only 42 percent of consumers can currently choose the transactions they want to authenticate, and 37 percent have the ability to choose from a list of authentication methods.

Some 47% of U.S. adults have reported identity theft over the past two years, while the fraud’s toll ballooned to $712.4 billion in 2020, up 42% from 2019, according to a recent report by Aite Group. The startling rise in this fraud stems at least in part from the onrush of e-commerce transactions and other card-not-present activity following the arrival of the coronavirus pandemic in March last year, earlier reports have said. ID theft losses overall increased 42% in 2020 from 2019, driven by such factors as phony unemployment claims.

Mastercard is expanding the Engage platform, offering customers access to a growing network of qualified technology and fintech partners that can deploy Mastercard Digital First solutions. These solutions will enable customers to provide entirely digital payment experiences for consumers, from acquisition and card usage to management and engagement, with a physical card option. The Mastercard Engage network includes partners such as: Signzy to support digital onboarding and instant eKYC services; Provenir to provide real-time risk decisioning, issuer processors such as Galileo, i2c and Marqeta; and end-to-end Digital First enablers Thales and Verestro.
For years now, Walmart has offered prepaid debit cards, domestic and international money transfers, bill pay services, tax preparation, installment financing, and other financial services through its partnerships with Green Dot, NetSpend, American Express, MoneyGram, PayPal, Jackson Hewitt, and other providers. This article posits that Walmart’s fintech aspiration is a lot bigger than just creating a digital bank—it’s creating a true digital ecosystem in the form of a super app. The super app opportunity includes integrating Walmart’s: 1) Shopify marketplace; 2) Connect ad platform; 3) health centers; 4) existing investments in eCommerce, logistics, supply chain, and inventory management; and 5) other product and services not currently affiliated with Walmart.
Spain's CaixaBank is the latest lender to start issuing cards made from recycled plastic and biodegradable components. It will stop using virgin plastic to manufacture physical cards - most of the cards will use recycled PVC, sourced from things like construction industry waste. Some will use PLA, a biodegradable material of biological origin that eliminates the use of fossil resources. Meanwhile, the techniques used to print the cardholder's name and card details will also change, with ink printing replaced by laser technology, which not only generates less waste but also increases the card's lifespan.
AT&T has tapped Fortinet for its first managed secure access service edge (SASE) service and plans to add other SASE partners in the year ahead. The new service uses Fortinet’s SASE stack — this includes SD-WAN and security capabilities — and it’s fully managed by AT&T Cybersecurity. Additionally, AT&T SASE with Fortinet integrates with AT&T Alien Labs Threat Intelligence platform, which provides security analysts unified visibility across clouds, networks, and endpoints.
AT&T will increase its investment in fiber this year and focus on filling in areas where the company already has fiber to a neighborhood but hasn’t yet expanded to fiber to the home. It will also focus on buildings where it might have dedicated access to one customer but can fairly easily add new customers in the building at a lower cost. AT&T believes it benefits from fiber deployments in three ways: 1) it provides backhaul for the company’s wireless services; 2) it delivers fiber to the premises for residential customers; 3) and third, it delivers fiber to business customers.
