Dell Announces EMC PowerScale

Dell announced a new family of storage systems called Dell EMC PowerScale which have been engineered with new storage software and server hardware to help organizations capture and capitalize on unstructured data. The new family of storage systems features new 1U Power-Edge-based PowerScale all-flash and NVMe nodes as well as existing Isilon all-flash, hybrid and archive nodes running the PowerScale OneFS 9.0 operating system.

Visa to Issue Sustainable Plastic Cards

Visa plans to roll out cards made from recycled plastic to all FIs globally. Visa has collaborated with CPI Card group to produce the 'Earthwise High Content Card', which is made with up to 98% upcycled plastic. The card is EMV compliant and dual interface capable, enabling both contact and contactless payment.

Genmega Offers Keypad Sanitizer for ATMs/Kiosks

Vscan, an ATM keyboard sanitizing solution that can kill up to 99 percent of viruses and bacteria automatically in a single pass. is now available from ATM and kiosk manufacturer Genmega. In 10 seconds, after each ATM or kiosk transaction, the scanning mechanism automatically comes down over the keypad, disinfecting and sterilizing the surface using a UV-C light process. Users are not exposed to the UV-C light at any time. Should a user try to interrupt the scan by touching or blocking the hardware a torque-sensitive mechanism will stop and restart the process.

Adapting In-Person Banking to Mobile Onboarding

Only 8 percent of financial service onboarding applications, which includes personal account opening creation, can be completed on smartphones. Yet 30 percent of consumers state they would leave their existing FIs for increased mobile capabilities. One FI, BBVA Switzerland, is addressing this issue by using video technologies to implement a “zero contact” method for KYC checks of potential new users where it verifies individuals’ identities via video calls. Meanwhile, other FIs are turning to eSignatures and biometric authentication tools.

Federal Reserve Announces the FraudClassifier Model to Help Classify Fraud Involving Payments

The Federal Reserve has published the FraudClassifier model – a set of tools and materials to help provide a consistent way to classify and better understand the magnitude of fraudulent activity and how it occurs across the payments industry. The model was developed by the Fraud Definitions Work Group, which was comprised of Federal Reserve and payments industry fraud experts.

How to Detect Network Abuse with Wireshark

Wireshark is a network analyzer that can help detect network abuse. For example, it can show what protocols are being used on your network and then find out where those protocols are originating from. With that information in hand, it's much easier to determine if something untoward is going on (such as BitTorrent, Bitcoin, etc.).

CenturyLink Dishes up New Managed Work-from-Home Solution That Uses Cisco Meraki Devices

CenturyLink is offering a new WFH solution that uses customers' existing broadband services to connect into wide-area networks. Remote Connect uses the existing broadband service in each household—including in homes that aren't CenturyLink broadband customers—to connect to the corporate WANs. Remote Connect customers can use either the Cisco Meraki Z3 router or the more robust Meraki MX64W device.
